The First ANSO Young Scientists Forum Held in Hangzhou

On November 9th, 2019 ANSO Young Scientists Forum and Zhejiang International Science and Technology Cooperation Conference, hosted by CAS and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, took place in Hangzhou. More than 500 representatives from more than 30 countries and regions around the world attended the meeting. Prof. Chunli Bai, President of ANSO and CAS, and Jiajun Yuan, Governor of Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government attended the meeting and delivered opening speeches. Prof. Chunli Bai introduced achievements ANSO made and its future work. He also emphasized the important role of young scientists in promoting scientific and technological progress. Nobel Prize laureate Barry Sharpless and Prof. Zabta Shinwari, Special Advisor of ANSO Secretariat also gave speeches.
On 10th and 11th, The ANSO Secretariat organized two parallel sessions “How Basic Sciences Supporting Sustainable Development” and “the Potential for Future”for young scientists. Participants shared research interest and progress, and took part in panel discussions and group discussions. The Secretariat plans to organize Young Scientists Forums in cooperation with ANSO members and partners on a regular basis in the future.
