16 October 2025, Rome — On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Alliance of International Science Organizations in the Belt and Road Region (ANSO) participated in a celebratory exhibition held at the FAO Headquarters in Rome, under the theme "Hand in Hand for better food and a better future."

During the event, ANSO showcased a series of food security projects implemented in recent years. These projects, contributed by institutions such as the Institute of Botany, Chengdu Institute of Biology, Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Northeast Institute of Geography and Agroecology, Aerospace Information Research Institute, and Institute of Microbiology under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as Lanzhou University, focused on key areas including crop breeding, digital agriculture, soil health, plant protection, food safety, and plateau agriculture. The exhibition highlighted the active involvement of institutions from Belt and Road countries in ANSO initiatives, demonstrating the strength of regional international cooperation.

Throughout the exhibition, numerous visitors expressed strong appreciation for the progress and outcomes of the ANSO-supported projects. These initiatives cover a wide range of fields, such as black soil protection and sustainable management, cultivated land optimization, smart agriculture and disaster early warning, remote sensing monitoring, foodborne pathogen monitoring networks, and community-livelihood-climate resilience. Together, they provide solid support for achieving Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger.

This participation served as a concrete action by ANSO in advancing the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind and implementing the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It aims to promote international scientific and technological cooperation, bringing advanced, applicable, and sustainable agricultural innovations to countries and regions along the Belt and Road. Through knowledge sharing, capacity building, and international collaboration, ANSO strives to strengthen the foundation of global food security.
