The Alliance of National and International Science Organizations for the Belt and Road Regions (ANSO), at the invitation of the Secretariat of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), is attending the 17th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNCCD (UNCCD COP17) held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in 2026 in the capacity of an Official Observer.

On 20 August, the representatives from the ANSO Secretariat participated in the meeting of the Committee on Science and Technology (CST), as well as the COP Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) Open Dialogue Session. These sessions offered valuable insights into the latest progress and field‑tested practical experience of science, technology and innovation (STI) for rangeland restoration and desertification control.

During the Conference, ANSO focuses on advancing STI, regional scientific cooperation and knowledge sharing, and aims to bring together research institutions and international organizations for promoting the sustainable development of drylands.
