To further implement the proposals raised by ANSO Members during the 4th ANSO General Assembly, the ANSO Secretariat has launched the ANSO Science Lecture Series. This initiative is designed to enhance capacity building in Belt and Road countries and regions, and to promote international science and technology cooperation.

The ANSO Science Lecture Series will feature distinguished scientists, industry leaders, and science policymakers who will present the latest scientific achievements, innovative technologies, and practical methodologies. It provides a platform for knowledge sharing and exchange, enabling member institutions and early-career researchers to gain insights into global scientific trends, foster collaborative innovation, and work together to address common global challenges.

As the inaugural theme of the ANSO Science Lecture Series, ScienceOne: From AI Theory to Systematic Practice centers on the ScienceOne scientific research platform as a shared vehicle for international collaboration. The series has 9 lectures, which introduces the fundamental theories of artificial intelligence and large language models (LLMs), together with systematic methodologies for their application in scientific research, with a focus on accessibility and capacity building for researchers from Belt and Road countries and regions.

Covering machine learning foundations, LLM fine-tuning, and practical use of the ScienceOne platform, the series integrates cutting-edge advances in "AI for Science" and domain-specific applications. Targeted at AI researchers and a broad community of domain experts and applied scientists.

Details of the First Lecture

The session of ScienceOne, produced by the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, is organized to promote the co-building of an open, shared, and platform-driven "AI for Science" ecosystem with global partners. The first session features Dr. CAO Jie, who will deliver a comprehensive guide to S1-Literature and S1-ToolChain, demonstrating how to streamline complex workflows including topic evaluation, knowledge retrieval, literature reviews, experiment orchestration, data analysis, and research writing.

Speaker Profile

Dr. CAO Jie received his Ph.D. in Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Systems from the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2021. He currently serves as an associate professor in the Strategic Priority Research Program of CAS. Dr. Cao is an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security (TIFS) and has acted as Area Chair for ICLR and the Chinese Conference on Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision. His research has been published in top-tier venues such as IEEE TPAMI, IJCV, IEEE TIFS, NeurIPS, and CVPR.
