ANSO Collaborative Research

ANSO collaborative research will be jointly initiated and supported by ANSO members, institutes, universities and international organizations focusing on hotspots and urgent issues related to environmental change, green development, human wellbeing and sustainable development. The following are special focus areas:

Scientific Research Orientations: Climate Change and Adaptation, Natural Disaster, Water Resource and Water Security, Air Pollution and Human Health, Ecosystem and Biodiversity, Combating Desertification, Energy Security, S&T Policy and Strategy on Sustainable Development, and Big Data.

Human Well-being Orientations: Agriculture and Food Security, Public Health, Poverty Alleviation, Disaster reduction, and Technology Transfer.

Achievements in Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna River Basin Presented in the International Workshop on Building Resilience to Water-Related Hazards

On April 13, 2023, the research team of ANSO collaborative research project entitled “Integrated Flood Services and Climate Change Adaptation for the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna (GBM) River Basin” participated in the international workshop on Building Resilience to Water-Related Hazards. More than 100 experts and specialists from mainland China, Hongkong (China), United States, UK, Germany, France, Australia, Vietnam, Nepal and Norway attended the workshop.

ANSO MISSPAD Newsletter

The forecast released by the ANSO-MISSPAD Project in March 2023 shows that hilly areas in Nepal will receive more precipitation (above normal) than usual this Summer (June-July-August); it is expected to be below average for most of the Southern part and the Western high mountain areas. The occurrence frequency of extreme precipitation is expected to be higher in central Nepal.

ANSO Research Progress on Dynamic Modeling of COVID-19 in the Belt and Road Countries

On March 15th 2023, the research team of the ANSO collaborative research project entitled “Prevention and Control of COVID-19 in Kazakhstan and Pakistan”published an article with the title “Dynamic variations in COVID-19 with the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant in Kazakhstan and Pakistan” online in the journal Infectious Diseases of Poverty (IF=10.485), making progress on the dynamic modeling of COVID-19 epidemics in Kazakhstan and Pakistan.

The ANSO collaborative research project of Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) held an international academic conference on microplastic pollution and brain and reproductive health.

Kick-off of ANSO Project on Accurate Early Warning Methods for High-risk Variants of Global Emerging Infectious Diseases

The kick-off meeting of ANSO Collaborative Research Project entitled “Study on Accurate Early Warning Methods for High-risk Variants of Global Emerging Infectious Diseases” was held online on January 30, 2023, hosted by Beijing Institute of Genomics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (BIG, CAS) / China National Center for Bioinformation (CNCB). Representatives from the cooperative organizations attended the meeting, including National Laboratory for Scientific Computation (LNCC), Brazil, University of Montpellier, France, and National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST), Pakistan. Prof. ZHAO Minyan, Ms. XU Shuwen and Dr. LI Qian, program officers of ANSO Secretariat, also participated the meeting.

International Forum on Ecological and Water Problems of Central Asia: Methods and Solutions Using New Modern Technologies held successfully

On December 20, 2022, the International Ecological Forum themed on Environmental and water problems of Central Asia: methods and solutions using new modern technologies was held in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) , organized by the Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (Bishkek), the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography Chinese Academy of Sciences, Eco Solutions LLC, the Zhongke Third Pole (Anhui) Technology Research Institute and ‘The Belt and Road’ Science and Technology Industry Innovation Strategic Alliance. The forum has received wide attention from experts and scholars from Central Asia, EU, Russia and China. More than 100 representatives from government agencies, business community, research organizations, product users and media participated in the forum, including 73 offline participants.
